Building Hope, Connection & Community

The Virtue Center has moved into our new facility.

Our new safe place of help and hope for people facing addiction and mental health challenges is open. Our trauma informed space will help even more people heal and thrive.

A special thank you to all of our partners and supporters who joined us in helping to eradicate addiction and its devastating impact on families in our community. Our new facility focuses on providing treatment with dignity and compassion and that is evident the moment one enters the building. Those who continue to invest in The Virtue Center, are investing in a brighter future for our entire community.

Yes, we had a successful capital campaign to raise over $4 million to build this 14,000 square foot modern building.  It's exciting to be in a new facility but our success will not be measured in square feet. It will be measured by lives affected.

You can still help with final costs of the new building or you can help us by investing financially in these ways:

New technology, including laptops for staff, to allow for greater flexibility in serving clients and meeting their needs.

Increased demand for programming – support groups, one-on-one counseling; teens; young adults - family and individual support groups that are not connected to DMH or Medicaid

Addition of alternative programs that are not full therapy but provide education, support, resources and processing.  Topics could be stress, dealing with family members who have substance disorders, family communications and other needed support.

Expansion of our medication assisted treatment clinic. Research is proving this method to be one of the most effective in recovery treatment.

Adolescent needs are increasing and adding a peer recovery support specialist who specializes in working with teens will help us meet those needs.

Professional development for our therapists so that we can offer additional types of therapies such as EDMR or IFS (Internal Family Systems).

Healthy snacks and lifestyle education for clients in our groups. Picture a cute snack cart with your logo on it.

Support for clients by providing binders and resource books to help them keep things organized and in easy to access places.

Volunteer with us. If you would like to give us your time along with your treasure, be a volunteer. We have one-time needs, assistance with office work and spots on committees and our board of directors.

A Vision for the future

We're in our new home providing a welcoming, therapeutic environment with a trauma-informed design that promotes healing for teens, adults, and families. We invite you to walk through the doors of this safe place of help and hope for people facing addiction and mental health challenges, where they can heal and thrive.

Hope

Clients often arrive at The Virtue Center with very little hope for a brighter future. Many have experienced trauma and are caught up in inter-generational cycles of addiction. Our new facility will utilize elements of trauma-informed design to create a space that promotes healing and inspires hope for what lies ahead.

Connection

Restoring broken relationships is a large part of treatment services. Research suggests positive intimate relationships are crucial for achieving long-term recovery. Our services are individualized to meet the specific needs of clients and their families. Restoring connections is often an end goal in recovery; being responsible, being reliable, establishing healthy boundaries, and caring for others are all part of recovery.

Community

Substance use disorders affect the whole community by increasing demand on law enforcement and healthcare facilities. It increases school disruptions, juvenile delinquency, and foster care placements. It places an enormous strain on the courts and is a primary cause of prison overcrowding. Absenteeism and lost productivity affect the bottom line for local businesses.

Why It’s Important

Addiction is a chronic, progressive disease affecting people from all walks of life- without treatment, it is often fatal. Its devastating impact is destroying families and costing billions of dollars each year in health care, public safety, the criminal justice system, social services, property loss, and lost productivity.

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services calls addiction our state's number one public health crisis. Drug and alcohol addiction contributes to 85% of all homicides, 80% of all prison incarcerations, 75% of all divorces, 65% of child abuse cases, and 55% of all domestic assaults.
